I first met Dave Scearce in Durham NC, when we
worked alongside one another at Tattoo Asylum
back in the ‘90’s.

Since then, we have all watched him grow as a
hard working and respected tattoo artist.

All the while, maintaining that humble demeanor
that belies the skill with which he plies his chosen
profession.

After relocating to Charlotte NC, Scearce has
given his last 5 years to Immortal Images, owned
by Steve Huntsberry, where he has been
encouraged to create original designs, and has
been afforded the opportunity to form a lasting
clientele that allows Dave to work in a manner he
enjoys best.

It seems the success isn’t stopping. Dave and
Steve have decided to join forces and open a
“sister” studio to Immortal Images, located nearby
in Charlotte.

The new shop, Blood, Sweat and Tears, will help
with the excess business they already have, and
to support one another in the future.

Opening in January of 2008, Dave has already
opted for the traditional studio, with private booths
and a full staff that would prefer to primarily focus
on custom work, but will be available for walk-in
clientele.

Rather than being confronted by racks of flash,
Dave will offer reference books, original art and
the occasional guest artist that they bring in.

Why the name “Blood, Sweat and Tears?”

This is what it takes to build a successful tattoo
business in an already competetive industry.
In talking with Dave, at the Richmond
Conventionthis year, he was adamant to state that
his priorities lay first in his family, and then his
tattooing, which he claims “lies right behind”.

“It’s a lifestyle” is something we all know as
tattooists, and Dave, after 15 years of hard work is
finally realizing his goal of being a shop owner.

He credits much of this to the influence of other
tattooers, namely all at Immortal Images; Steve
and Hayley, Rodney Raines at Ace Tattoo, and
Tom Michael.

Located just across the street from each other,
Immortal and BST have a combined force of eight
artists, and for the first time in years are catching
up to the tremendous demand that keeps them
booked for months in advance.

Dave is planning to host a grand opening party (to
be announced) so all are welcome!
